Marathi Small Talk: Introduce Yourself
Introduce yourself in Marathi: name, city, 'I know a little Marathi' — 6 phrases with Hindi meanings.
The situation
Small talk runs on six lines: your name, where you live, a humble admission about your Marathi — plus two rescue lines for when speech comes too fast. All six are real curriculum phrases with Hindi and English meanings.
| Marathi | Pronunciation | Hindi | English | Example |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| तुमचं नाव काय | tumcha nāv kāytumcha naav kaay | आपका नाम क्या है | what is your name | तुमचं नाव काय आहे? What is your name? |

The rescue lines
पुन्हा सांगा (please say again) and हळू बोला (please speak slowly) are the two most useful sentences a beginner owns. Use them freely — Marathi speakers slow down gladly.
