Marathi Connectors & Grammar Words (संयोजक)
32 Marathi conjunctions and connectors — pronouns, demonstratives — with Hindi meanings, pronunciation and examples.
What you will learn
Thirty-two Marathi connectors and core grammar words: conjunctions (आणि, पण, कारण, म्हणून, जर, तर, किंवा, आधी, नंतर), demonstratives (हा, ही, हे, इथे, तिथे), pronouns (तो, ती, ते, कोण, कशा) and quantifiers (काही, सर्व, प्रत्येक). Every entry has Hindi and English meanings, pronunciation and a real example sentence.
These are the mortar between vocabulary bricks — Unit 4 sentence patterns and Unit 21 advanced grammar both build on them. The possessives page (माझा/माझी) shares the demonstrative roots.
Tip: जर…तर = if…then pair — always appears together in conditional sentences. Memorize the pair, not the parts.

The conditional pair
जर पाऊस आला, तर मी घरी राहीन (if rain comes, then I stay home). जर introduces the condition, तर the consequence — drop either and the logic breaks.
Demonstratives you already know
हा/ही/हे (this), तो/ती/ते (that), इथे/तिथे (here/there) — the near/far and gender system mirrors possessives (माझा/माझी/माझे, तो/ती/ते). Learn one set, the other follows.
Common mistakes
✗ Using परंतु for everyday “but”✓ पण = but (everyday); परंतु = but (formal/written)
Spoken Marathi uses पण exclusively; परंतु appears in official letters and literature.
✗ Dropping तर in जर…तर✓ जर without तर sounds incomplete
The curriculum treats them as a fixed pair — Unit 4 conditional sentences always show both.
✗ Listing with आणि only✓ आणि is correct for lists; commas work too
आणि is the standard coordinator; no mistake, just noting it is the only “and” you need.
