English → Marathi: Emergency & Help

English to Marathi emergency phrases — call an ambulance, describe symptoms, ask for help and find a hospital — from Units 02 and 10.

12 sentences · Units 02, 10

What you will learn

Three critical emergency sentences from the Bol Marathi curriculum: calling an ambulance, describing pain to a doctor, and asking for help. Each maps the English to the Marathi with the exact words you need in a crisis.

The grammar is survival-focused: the dative pattern मला ... पाहिजे (I need...) and the imperative कॉल करा (call...). No complex structures -- just the three sentences that get you help.

Tip: आंबुलन्स कॉल करा, लवकर -- say it loud, say it fast. The verb कॉल करा attaches to any emergency service: पोलिस कॉल करा, फायर कॉल करा.

The three survival sentences

1) मला मदत पाहिजे -- I need help (the universal need frame). 2) डॉक्टर, माझं पोट दुखते -- Doctor, my stomach hurts (body part + दुखते). 3) आंबुलन्स कॉल करा, लवकर -- Call ambulance, quickly (imperative + urgency adverb).

Extending the frames

The body-part frame: माझं डोके दुखते (head), माझं पाठ दुखते (back), माझं पाय दुखते (leg). The need frame: मला पाणी पाहिजे, मला दवा पाहिजे, मला आंबुलन्स पाहिजे. The call frame: पोलिस कॉल करा, फायर कॉल करा, मदत कॉल करा.

Common mistakes

✗ Saying मदत करो (Hindi imperative)✓ मदत करा / मला मदत पाहिजे

Marathi imperative ends in -आ (करा), not -ओ (करो). The need frame मला मदत पाहिजे is more standard.

✗ Using एम्बुलेंस (Hindi spelling)✓ आंबुलन्स -- Marathi spelling

The course uses आंबुलन्स in Unit 10. Hindi एम्बुलेंस differs in the first vowel.

✗ Saying मेरा पेट दर्द कर रहा है (Hindi)✓ माझं पोट दुखते -- body part as subject

Marathi says the body part hurts (पोट दुखते), not that pain is happening in it. The verb दुखते agrees with the body part.
