What you will learn
Six direction sentences from Unit 08: asking where a place is, understanding left/right/straight, and saying you are lost. Each maps the English phrase to the Marathi with the vocabulary you need at a street corner.
Marathi direction words (डावा, उजवा, सरळ, थांबा) are short and used exactly where English puts left/right/straight/stop -- no new grammar, just vocabulary swap.
Tip: डावा = left, उजवा = right, सरळ = straight, थांबा = stop. Say them while walking -- muscle memory beats flashcards.

The four navigation words
डावा (left), उजवा (right), सरळ (straight), थांबा (stop) -- every direction sentence in Unit 08 is built from these four plus the question word कुठे (where).
Asking where something is
कुठे आहे? (Where is it?) works for anything -- स्टेशन कुठे आहे?, शौचालय कुठे आहे?, होटेल कुठे आहे? The answer will use the same four words: सरळ जा, डावीकडे वळा, उजवीकडे आहे.
Common mistakes
✗ Using बायाँ/दायाँ from Hindi✓ डावा/उजवा -- no sound overlap, must learn fresh
Hindi बायाँ/दायाँ and Marathi डावा/उजवा share zero phonetics. This is pure vocabulary learning.
✗ Saying थांब for stop✓ थांबा -- the imperative ends in ा
थांब is the root; the spoken command is थांबा (stop!) or थांबा एक मिनिट (wait a minute).

Common questions
How do you say "turn right" in Marathi?
उजवीकडे वळा -- right-side turn. The verb वळणे (to turn) takes the direction word + एकडे.
What is the word for "stop"?
थांबा -- use it with an auto driver: थांबा एक मिनिट (wait a minute) or just थांबा! (stop!).
