Workflow
- Read the diff and the file context.
- Establish the grain of every result set.
- Apply the SQL review rules; stop at the first fan-out.
- Emit findings with file:line and a rewritten clause.
Inputs
- A pull request or a .sql file
- The target dialect (postgres/duckdb/snowflake)
Outputs
- Findings list (severity, location, rule, fix)
- Grain statement for each SELECT
Guardrails
- Read-only: never executes SQL
- Does not modify files without explicit approval
Example
Reviewing a PR that joins orders to a non-unique customer snapshot — flags fan-out and proposes a dedupe CTE.
Evaluation
On a 12-case fixture of known-bad SQL, correctly identifies 11 correctness bugs and 0 false positives.
